Obituary of Margaret M. Barth
Cheshire – Margaret M. Barth, 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 18, 2017, at Elim Park Baptist Home. She was the wife of the late Dr. Raymond J. Barth.
Mrs. Barth was born September 7, 1921, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Frank J. and Mary (Ahearn) Stapleton. Margaret was a graduate of Lauralton Hall, Waterbury Catholic High School, and Katharine Gibbs School, New York.
During World War II, Margaret was employed by American Brass Company in Waterbury as a secretary in munitions specialization. At the end of World War II, she married Dr. Barth following his discharge from the 690th Field Artillery in Europe where he served as a Medical Tech Sergeant.
Margaret was a long time resident of Cheshire and was employed at the Department of Education as a receptionist for 25 years. She enjoyed travel and made many trips to Europe, Hawaii, Canada, and the Caribbean. She will always be remembered for her generous hospitality and open kitchen door. She was an animal lover and provided a good home to dogs, cats, and horses. Margaret was active in the community as President of St Bridget’s Ladies Guild, Cheshire Women’s Club, The Salvation Army and the Cheshire Children’s Theatre. Following retirement she was also a reader at Highland School, which she enjoyed immensely.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Diane Ulbrich of Middlebury, her son, Raymond Barth of Spring, Texas, and her grandsons, Raymond Lee Barth of Magnolia, Texas, and Harrison Travis Barth of Los Angeles, California. She will also be missed by her great grandchildren, Kamron, Kaitlyn, Kendal, Skylar, and Selah, as well as her great great grandson, Declan.
Arrangements – A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 25, 2017 at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Friends may call at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main St., Cheshire, Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M.
