Obituary of David Lawrence Simcik

CHESHIRE- David Lawrence Simcik, 72, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Mid-State Medical Center in Meriden with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Barbara Jane (Yakimovich) Simcik, whom he was married to for forty-two years.

Mr. Simcik was born December 4, 1944 in New Britain, son of the late Walter and Sophie Monica (Dawidowicz) Simcik.

David was a graduate from Central Connecticut State University where he received a B.A. in Psychology, and his Master’s Degree in Education. Mr. Simcik was a beloved 6th grade Teacher in the Colchester Education System for thirty-seven years, prior to his retirement.

Besides his wife, David is survived by his son David T. Simcik and his wife Laurie of Marshfield, MA; his daughter Allison Fillmore and her husband Benjamin of Gallatin, TN; and his four grandchildren Douglas, Madison, Katherine, and his namesake, David. In addition, David leaves his siblings Patricia Simcik of West Hartford, Carol Simcik of West Hartford, Walter Simcik and his wife Sharon of Southington, Kathleen Simcik of Bridgeport, Mary Beth Marciano of Boston, and Margaret Simcik of West Hartford; and his godson (nephew) Richard Simcik and his wife Amanda of Middletown. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Charles Marciano.

Arrangements – Calling hours for Mr. Simcik will be held at 9:30 A.M., Friday, August 25, 2017 at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St, 06410, until the funeral procession leaves at 10:15 A.M. for an 11:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Becket Church, 435 North Brooksvale Rd, Cheshire, CT 06410. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Road, Cheshire, 06410. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to Autism Speaks, 1 East 33rd Street, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10016 (www.autismspeaks.org).
