Obituary of Betty Sidella

WOLCOTT - Mrs. Betty Lois Leisring Sidella passed away peacefully in her home, in the loving arms of her family on September 2, 2017.  She was the loving and dedicated wife of the late Louis “Luigi” Frank Sidella Jr. who passed away June 26, 1998.

Betty was born on April 26, 1929 in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Lois and Samuel (Stephens) Leisring and grew up on Yale Street in Waterbury.

Betty was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister sister-in-law, cousin and friend.  Betty graduated as valedictorian from Sprague Elementary School and graduated from Wilby High School Waterbury, achieving the honor of Salutatorian.  Betty worked at Barnard School in Waterbury, as a secretary for 33 years and left an amazing impression on everyone.  She was the most thoughtful, sweet, kind, loving, caring and brave woman ever; Betty had the most exquisite and impeccable manners, plus she had the purest heart and always remained true to herself.  Her independence and courage is to be admired.

Betty and her husband resided on Tree Hill Road in Waterbury for 45 years.  After her husband’s passing, Betty made her home in Wolcott, for the past 15 years, residing with and leaving behind her daughter Barbara Ann Dublin, her son-in-law Darrell Clark Dublin and her youngest grandson, Darrell Clark Dublin, Jr. “DJ”.

She leaves behind her son David William Sidella and his wife Lisa of Waterbury, her granddaughter Stephanie Louise Fusco and her husband Thomas, granddaughter Alison Tirado and her husband George, Great Granddaughter Gabriella and Great Grandson Anthony Louis.  She leaves behind Lydia LeBlanc, mother of Stephanie and Alison.  Her Granddaughter Jamie McDevitt and her husband Matt, Great Granddaughters Emma and Lily Mae and her grandson Matthew David Sidella.  She leaves behind Judy Sidella, Mother of Jamie and Matthew; her brother Clarence Leisring and his wife Anne; her brother Samuel Leisring and his wife Marsha.  She was predeceased by her eldest son, Alan Louis Sidella and her sister Shirley Sarasin.  She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and all of her grandson DJ’s friends (her boys) who spent many weekends and summers visiting her.

Betty grew up dedicated to her faith and was a communicant of St. Marks Episcopal Church of Waterbury; a member of All Saints Church in Oakville, and Wolcott Congregational Church in Wolcott.

Betty’s proudest and happiest moments in life were from her grandchildren and great grandchildren; she ALWAYS  loved being with them; especially on Holidays, Celebrations, and most definitely she absolutely LOVED being at all their sporting events, birthdays, and every and all special moments with each and everyone of them.  Betty embraced all of her children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s successes.
