Obituary of Peter G. Normand, Sr.
WATERBURY- Peter G. Normand Sr., 83, passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 at RegalCare of Prospect. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth (Lister) Normand in 2003 after 49 years of marriage.
Mr. Normand was born October 22, 1933 in Waterbury son of the late Eugene Joseph and Helen E. (Upson) Normand.
Peter was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a Pipe Fitter at Uniroyal prior to his retirement. In his younger years, he was an avid golfer, yodeler and runner participating in both the Boston and New York Marathons. One of his proudest accomplishments was receiving his Black Belt in Karate after his 50th birthday.
He is survived by three sons Kenneth Normand of Waterbury, Roy S. and his wife Pam Normand of Thomaston, and Paul M. and his wife Elizabeth Normand of Waterbury; three daughters Linda Lovejoy of Waterbury, Tina and her husband Stephen Gelinas of Naugatuck, and Tammy and her husband Mark Crosby of Waterbury; thirteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and two sisters in law Dorothy Townsend of Indiana, and Barbara Lister of Naugatuck. Peter was predeceased by two sons Eugene Normand, and Peter G. Normand Jr.; and his sister Jeanne Day.
Arrangements- A Funeral Service for Mr. Normand will be held 1pm Friday, September 15, 2017 at Prospect Congregational Church, 25 Center St, Prospect, CT 06712. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery, and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 496 Chase Ave, 06704 is assisting the family with the arrangements.
