Obituary of Kenneth Demers

CHESHIRE - Kenneth S. Demers, 64, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Hartford Hospital with his family by his side.  He was the husband of Kathleen (Hession) Demers.

Ken was born September 27, 1952 in Providence, RI, the son of the late Guilford and Marilyn (Swanson) Demers.  He was raised in Cranston, RI where he attended local schools.

He graduated from Bryant College in 1974 and worked for many years as a Field Representative for A.C. Nielsen Company.  In 1996, Ken attended Peter Kump’s New York Cooking School and was a proud Blue Ribbon graduate of the Career Pastry & Baking Arts Program.  In his new career Ken worked at the Blue Bottle Bakery, Shaw’s Supermarkets and at the time of his death was the Assistant Bakery Manager at Big Y in West Hartford.

Ken enjoyed cooking, grilling and smoking food for family and friends.  He loved to travel and family vacations in Maine and at Disney World were very special times. He was an avid New York Football Giants fan and enjoyed planning his stadium tailgates almost as much as the actual games. He also enjoyed his regular golf games with friends.

Besides his wife of 40 years, Ken is survived by his daughter Karen Demers and his son Daniel Demers, both of Cheshire; and his brother Richard and his wife Eloise Demers of Cranston, RI.
