Obituary of Sylvia Stein

TORRINGTON - Sylvia Stein, 99, died Friday October 6, 2017 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.  She was the wife of the late Jerome Stein for more than 62 years.

Mrs. Stein was born March 31, 1918 in Newburgh, NY, the daughter of the late Max and Anna (Markowitz) Krinsky.  She was a longtime Waterbury resident before moving to Torrington in the late 1960s.

Mrs. Stein is survived by her children Jonathan Stein and his wife Denise Bramble, Kathryn “Katy” Stein and her husband J. Merrill, and Paul Stein and his wife Stephanie Weissman; her grandchildren Jennifer and Max Stein; several nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Arrangements – A Graveside service will be held on Sunday October 8, 2017 at 11 am at Melchizedek Cemetery 170-176 Plank Rd., Waterbury.  Shiva will be held at the convenience of the family.  Memorial contributions may be made to the National Museum of Women in the Arts at www.nmwa.org or to the Mattatuck Museum, 144 West Main St., Waterbury, CT 06702.  The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury is assisting with arrangements.
