Obituary of Beverly D. Maconi
Beverly D. Maconi, age 88, of Cheshire passed away peacefully Monday, October 9, 2017, surrounded by her loving family at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. She was the devoted wife of the late Norman L. Maconi for over 63 years. Beverly was born on February 22, 1929 in Hamden, daughter of the late John A. and Elizabeth (Behncke) Dornseiff.
Beverly attended Centenary College in New Jersey, where she earned her Associates Degree. She later furthered her education at Tobe Coburn School for Fashion Careers, and worked as a wedding planner for some time. During WWII, she gained employment with Bell Telephone in Hamden. After she met and fell in love with Norman, they started a family; Beverly was a dedicated wife and mother, tending to all of her family’s needs and supporting them through all their youth group activities and personal endeavors. Later, she worked at Home Fabric Mills of Cheshire and she became an avid reader, stopping at the Cheshire Public Library was a weekly routine.
She is survived by her children and their families: Nancy Slocum and her husband, Shaun of Cheshire and their 3 children and 7 grandchildren; John V. Maconi and his wife, Darlene of Wilbraham, MA and their 2 children; and Tracy A. Andrews and her husband, John of Cheshire and their 2 children. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Lois McClusky of AZ, Mary Maconi of FL and many nieces and nephews. Beverly was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Kelly.
Family and friends are invited to attend Beverly’s Funeral Service on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 10AM in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 59 Main St., Cheshire followed by a luncheon at the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Beaverdale Memorial Park. There are no calling hours.
