Obituary of Vernier A. Barone

Vernier A. Barone Jr, age 95 of Lakeland, FL and formerly of Cheshire, CT entered into rest on Friday, December 29, 2017. He was the devoted husband of the late Mary “Mae” Barone. Vern was born March 25, 1922 in Waterbury, son of the late Vernier and Caroline Barone.

He was a graduate of Wilby High School in Waterbury. He served his country with honor and pride with the US Army during WWII, and went on to manage cemeteries for the Bridgeport Diocese, retiring in 1989.

He is the beloved father of Donna Scheetz and her husband, Robb of Lakeland, FL; loving grandfather of Megan Gardner her husband, Matthew, Jennifer Hurley and Alexis Scheetz. He leaves behind his sister, Thelma Shoemate; sister in law, Martha Sullivan and loving nieces and a nephew.

Friends are invited to attend services at Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main St., Cheshire, CT 06410 on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 9AM.  Burial will be private.
