Obituary of Carl T. Andersen

CHESHIRE- Carl “Red” T. Andersen Jr., 79, passed away suddenly and peacefully Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at his home. He was the loving husband of Margaret Andersen who predeceased him in 2013 after nearly 50 years of marriage.

Carl was born November 2, 1938 in New Haven, son of the late Carl T. Sr., and Bernice (Batchelor) Andersen. He was married to the love of his life Margaret (Mulcahy) Andersen on October 26, 1963.

Carl is survived by his four sons Steven Andersen of Wallingford, Peter and his wife Charlotte Andersen of Mount Pleasant, SC, Brian and his wife Susan Andersen of Thompson, and Kevin and his wife Robyn Andersen of Plainville; his sister Amy Jean Raccio; and grandchildren Carl, Jake, Austin, Connor, Jack, Braden, William, Matthew, and Hailey. Carl was predeceased by his sister Lorraine Andersen.

Carl was a true family man, a loyal friend, and a lover of life. He would give with both hands and take only what he needed. Nothing made him happier than having his entire family together for any occasion. Carl and Margaret loved to travel throughout the United States in their mobile home, collecting friends and experiences wherever they went. Carl was a member of Indian Neck Yacht Club for 30+ years where he could be found most days helping solve the world’s problems over a cold beer with the close friends he made through his love of boating and fishing. He was a master of all things mechanical. He would say “If it was made by a man, it could be fixed by a man” (and electrical tape). Carl worked for over 40 years at Hungerfords Pump Service where he started as a serviceman for installations and repairs and retired in 2001 as Vice President.

Arrangements- A service for Carl will start 11 A.M., Monday, January 15, 2018, at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St, 06410. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home from 9 A.M. until the service starts at 11 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carl’s name can be made to TAVF (Take a Veteran Fishing) c/o First Congregational Church of Branford, 1009 Main St, Branford, CT 06405.
