Obituary of Edward J. Thomas

WATERBURY- Edward J. Thomas, 88, passed away, Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Glendale Center in Naugatuck. He was predeceased by his wife Maxine E. Thomas in 2000 after 49 years of marriage.

Mr. Thomas was born July 9, 1929 in Waterbury, son of the late Clifford A. and Lillian (Lane) Thomas.

Edward was a graduate of Leavenworth High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy for four years. He was a Cold Header Operator in the manufacturing industry prior to his retirement. Edward will always be known as a hard working family man, whom everyone adored and respected.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his ten children David Thomas of Waterbury, Richard and his wife Doreen Thomas of Waterbury, Kathy and her husband Marty Palmer of Thomaston, Marty and his wife Lee Thomas of Middlebury, Susan Thomas of Waterbury, Scott and his wife Diane Thomas of Oakville, John and his wife Donna Thomas of Thomaston, Mark and his wife Wendy Thomas of Thomaston, Edward and his wife Jodie Thomas of Waterbury, and Brian “B.J” and his wife Stephanie Thomas of Ocoee, FL; seventeen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by his daughter Audra Thomas.

Arrangements- A Memorial Service for Edward will be held 11 A.M, Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the United Methodist Church of Waterbury, 250 Country Club Road, 06708. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial with full military honors will be held in Bucks Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family, and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 496 Chase Ave, 06704 is assisting with the family with the arrangements. Donations in his name can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
