Obituary of Ralph D. Alessio
NAUGATUCK - Ralph D. Alessio, 89, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Glendale Center in Naugatuck.
Mr. Alessio was born July 21, 1928 in Waterbury, the son of the late Ippazio and Nancy Alessio. He was a longtime Waterbury resident before moving to Naugatuck. He was employed for many years at Timex where he invented the popular Indigo watch. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WW II. Returning to civilian life, he trained cadets in marksmanship at the FBI Academy in Quantico, then went on to study Electronics under the GI bill.
He is survived by his children David, Kevin, Lori, and Michael, four grandchildren, his brother Dan, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Arrangements - The funeral will be held 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Visitation will be held from 2pm until the start of the service. A committal service with Military Honors will be held on Monday March 5, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the State Veteran’s Cemetery, Bow Lane Middletown. Memorial contributions may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice.
