Obituary of Arthur D. McMellon

Cheshire, Connecticut - Arthur David McMellon, Sr., 65, passed on to Heaven on February 28,  2018, peacefully in his home, by the warmth of his fireplace.

 

Art was born April 12, 1952 in New Haven, the son of late William C. and Nancy [DePalma] McMellon.  He was recognized as a Master Millwork Craftsman, opening McMellon Woodcraft in 1975. He will be remembered for his lasting tradition of custom architectural millwork for hundreds of families and businesses throughout New England, and across the country.

 

Art was an active member of the Jaycees, and served multiple terms as Kiwanis President. He is also recognized as a Master Craftsman by the order of Freemasons, Masonic Temple 16. Art was an active, proud supporter and contributor of St. Bridget’s Church, and many Cheshire sports programs, both youth leagues and through high school varsity programs.

 

Art is survived by his two sons, Arthur D. McMellon, Jr., and Anthony W. McMellon; his former wife Karel McMellon; several nieces and nephews, and the extraordinary staff of McMellon Woodcraft, John Wolfe - Master Craftsman/Foreman, Fernando Mejia - Master Craftsman/Carpenter, and Valerie Depalma - Business Manager.

 

Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours.  The Alderson-Ford Funeral home is assisting with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Cheshire Junior Football, P.O. Box 171, Cheshire, CT 06410.
