Obituary of Joan Roberts
CHESHIRE- Joan M. Roberts, 54, passed away peacefully Friday, April 13, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of Steven J. Roberts and a Cheshire resident for the last 28 years.
Joanie was born October 15, 1963 in Providence, Rhode Island, a daughter of the late Noel and Marianna (Shields) Moody. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 1981 and continued her education at Central Connecticut State University where she received her degree in business. She worked in the insurance industry for over 30 years and spent the past 15 years working as the Business Development Manager for National General Insurance Company.
In addition to her husband, Joanie is survived by her daughter Ashley Foley and husband Brian, daughter Annie Roberts and son Jack Roberts. Her siblings Frank Moody (Joan), Mary Ellen Coe (Bill) and John Moody (Joanne). Father-in-law Raymond Roberts, Mother-in-law Sue Roberts (Predeceased), Brother-in-laws Ray Roberts, Don Roberts (Donna), Sister-in-law Shelly Maurice (Ron). Aunt Joan will be missed by her nieces and nephews.
Joanie particularly enjoyed her time spent with the family. Some of her favorite times were spent traveling with family and going to the beach, especially at their family Cape Cod house in Brewster. Joanie’s role in life was caring for and loving her three amazing children. She made sure all their needs and wants were met, putting them as a priority over all else. Joanie would drop anything to make sure her children were taken care of.
Joanie had a laugh that could fill a room and a heart that was even bigger. She was an inspiration to others in all aspects of life.
A message from Joanie: Be your own health care advocate. Trust your instincts, you know your body best. If something doesn’t feel right, speak up and make sure your concerns are addressed. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and request further testing.
Thank you, Connecticut Hospice, specifically our nurse Lois, for helping us keep Joanie comfortable and at home.
