Obituary of Helen P. Beebe

CHESHIRE – Helen Purmont Beebe, 90, passed away peacefully Friday April 27, 2018 at her home surrounded by family and friends.  She was the wife of the late Earl Beebe.

Mrs. Beebe was born July 7, 1927, in New Haven, the daughter of the late Howard and Helen (Shea) Purmont.  After graduating from the Hospital of St. Raphael’s Nursing School class of 1948, she had worked for many years at St. Raphael’s as head nurse and instructor in the Pediatric Department. In addition to being a nurse she was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps. After retiring from St. Raphael’s she served as a private duty nurse in the area. Besides her career she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at Lake Hayward.

Mrs. Beebe is survived by her son Michael Beebe of Westbrook; her daughters Kathleen Beebe of CA and Patricia Atlas and her husband Nickolas of Cheshire; her grandchildren Nickolas Atlas Jr., Samuel Beebe and Madison Beebe.  Mrs. Beebe is predeceased by her husband Earl, daughter Virginia and sister Virginia Donovan. She is survived by her siblings Mary Ardith Nowak of Florida and Dr. John Purmont of West Haven and by many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements- Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 3, 2018, 9:15 am from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. to St. Bridget Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.  Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association P.O.
