Obituary of Alexander H. Yorke
Cheshire - Alexander H. Yorke Jr., 89, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Marcia (Suarez) Yorke.
Mr. Yorke was born January 30, 1929 in Waterbury, a son of the late Alexander and Marjorie (Straub) Yorke. He was a retired lineman for Southern New England Telephone Company and proudly served his country in the Army from 1951-1953.
During his retirement he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his Army companions from the CO. “A” 110th INF. 28th DIV. He had a passion for driving, the outdoors, conversing with his neighbors, and a hearty meal. He had a smile that lit up the room and you always knew if he was around by the sweet sound of his whistle.
Mr. Yorke is survived by his granddaughters, Victoria Boulis, and her husband, Nick, and Alexandra Riley, and her husband, Kevan, and his grandson, Adam Yorke. In addition to his wife, Mr. Yorke was predeceased by his son, Keith Yorke, and his brother, William Yorke.
Arrangements: A graveside service will be held at Sandwich Town Cemetery in Sandwich, MA, at a later date. There are no calling hours and the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street is in charge of arrangements.
