Obituary of Margaret S. Doback
Loving Mother and Grandmother
NAUGATUCK – Margaret Catherine Sheppard Doback, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Vitas Hospice at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. She was predeceased by her husband Charles R. Doback, Sr.
Mrs. Doback was born February 3, 1923 in Naugatuck, the daughter of James A. and Mary (Boylan) Sheppard. She was a graduate of Naugatuck High School and the Perry School of Business. She was a lifetime Naugatuck resident where she was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She was the Corporate Secretary for the former Risdon Corporation, Naugatuck and retired after 24 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Elks Emblem Club #160, Roaring 20’s Car Club, and a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was an accomplished knitter and enjoyed creating beautiful sweaters and afghans for her family.
Mrs. Doback is survived by her children: Mary Ellen Doback Halloran (Paul, Jr.) of Barrington, RI; Margaret Anne Serafino (Richard) of Naugatuck, James Doback of Watertown and Charles Jr. (Joan) of Naugatuck. She has eight grandchildren, Kathryn Halloran of San Diego, CA, Maryclaire Woron of North Haven, Julia Halloran of Chicago, IL, Molly Henion of Naugatuck, Megan and Peter Doback of Watertown, Rebecca and Charles R Doback, III of Naugatuck; her brother-in-law Joseph Borsos of Naugatuck; her sister-in-law Mary Doback of Naugatuck; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family is grateful for the loving care and support provided by her caregiver, Hannah Kusi as well as the staff at Waterbury Hospital Pomeroy 7 for their care.
Arrangements – Calling hours will be Thursday August 9, from 4:00- 7:00 pm at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 201 Meadow St., Naugatuck, CT. Mrs. Doback’s funeral procession will leave the funeral home Friday morning at 10:15 and proceed to St. Hedwig’s Church, 32 Golden Hill St., Naugatuck for a Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, High St. Naugatuck. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Church.
