I am saddened by Jerry's passing. I was fortunate to be his classmate from Norton to CHS graduation. I remember Jerry's easy and infectious smile and casual attitude. He was so genuine and positive. I feel like any interaction with Jerry left me with a big smile on my face and a lightened heart.
I am so sorry for your loss and hope that your memories will fill you with love and hope, knowing that Jerry made other peoples lives better.

Jerry was a wonderful guy with a great personality. I met Jerry when I worked at the storage facility in Cheshire 10 years ago. We had a lot of good laughs hanging out at storage. Jerry and I last spoke a few weeks ago, we always called each other just to talk and laugh. Jerry had a big heart and will be missed.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Jerry's family.

Dear Petro Family,
I was saddened to hear of Jerry's passing today. I have many fond memories of Jerry that began in elementary school. I remember him as a kind person with a good sense of humor, some of which was reflected in his signing of my 6th grade yearbook (see photos).
Please accept my condolences and I pray God's comfort for you all during this very difficult time.
Sincerely,
Scott Nakoneczny

Dear Petro Family:
I would like to offer my condolences to the family. Nothing can prepare us for the loss of a loved one. When we lose a family member or a close friend to death, our pain and grief can be unbearable. There is nothing we can do to bring that person back to life. Where can we turn for comfort? The best place we can turn to for comforting words is the Bible. At 2 Corinthians chapter 1 and verses 3 and 4, the Bible tells us that God is the God of all comfort, and he comforts us in all of our tribulations, so we in turn can comfort others. This scripture makes it very clear that God knows the pain that we are facing when we lose a loved one, and he wants us to be comforted

Jerry was such an unique person... he had a variety of interests and could carry on a humorous and lively conversation on just about any topic. He was a thoughtful and generous neighbor and friend, and truly cared about people. When I first moved to Cheshire, I thought it was great that he gave me a tour of the town so I'd know my way around. Clearly, he loved his family - his sisters, brothers-in-law, and nephew and nieces. My condolences to all of his loved ones. Peace be with you Jerry, you will be missed.

Gone From My Sight by Henry Van Dyke
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone."
Gone where?
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"

Jerry and I met in San Francisco in 1987 at a Tavern called The Off Van Ness. We played pool that entire night, and a couple of nights later they came back and we played some more. I kicked Jerry's butt, he would say he kicked mine. We got along so well, I invited them to go to Golden Gate Park the next day, John Fay, Armando, and Jerry. I made fried chicken and potato salad and we had an awesome afternoon. I guess I just adopted them, because when they wanted to spend the night in San Francisco on leave from the Enterprise, they crashed at my house, either on the couch, or the floor. We used to go to breakfast at Carlene's of Maui in San Francisco, and I was so happy they included me in their group. My three little brothers. I am going to miss Jerry so much it's unbearable. We talked at least two or three times a week, because he always had a funny story to relate, and sometimes he was just a shoulder to lean on. I will miss him so, so tremendously. I will always love you Jerry. My deepest sympathy to his family.
