As a former teacher in Owatonna, MN, I have such fond memories of Megumi. She was such a kind and pleasant girl in my 4th grade classroom. She loved to read and was always interested in learning. I am so saddened by her passing. Thoughts and prayers are with her family at this sad time.
Sincerely,

I feel shocked, heartbroken, and sad with Megumi's dear children, husband, sister, mother, her extended family, all her friends, students past and present. I was her minister when Zoe was little, before and after Asher was born, until 2010 when I moved away. She gave me a memento that I see every day. She had a beautiful heart and soul. I hold you all in my heart.

My heart and thoughts are with all of you as you celebrate Megumi's life. She was the big sister everyone wants to have and through Mika's eyes, I looked up to her as if she was mine as well - someone to aspire to be like, calm, grounded, and unconditionally loving. I'm grateful to have known her and been able to stand in her light. Sending an ocean of love to her whole family now and always.

It was always an honor to know Ms. Yamamoto, and she inspired me and so many others to do what we loved, and what we believed in. I hope her family is doing alright, and I know that she will live on in that school and town forever. Her smile was the best thing you could ever witness. I will miss her dearly, we all will.

I wanted to thank Ms. Yamamoto, wherever she may be now, for her kindness and unwavering belief in the goodness of my son. She stood out from others in a quiet, yet reassuring way, and offered him praise. May her example live on as others at the high school keep her in their thoughts as they make decisions about students.

I have no words for the depths of my sadness. Ms. Yamamoto was one of the kindest, most patient, helpful, and inspirational teachers any teenager could hope to have. Her smile was infectious, and her love for literature showed in every class she taught. She wrote a beautiful recommendation for me for my undergraduate program in 2004 that was so kind, it brought me to tears. I am glad to have known her, and to have many wonderful memories of her from my high school days. My deepest sympathies to all of her loved ones. To say she was a special lady is an incredible understatement. She is and will be so missed.
