Obituary of Elaine Evelyn Zonas

WATERBURY- Elaine Evelyn Zonas, 80, passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of George John Zonas who predeceased her last year after 34 years of marriage.

Mrs. Zonas was born April 19, 1938 in Fitchburg, MA daughter of the late Richard H. and Elise (Orngvist) Nortonen.

Elaine worked over 30 years as a Registered Nurse in the greater Waterbury area prior to her retirement. She was a longtime member of the Nava Ski Club, and the Naugatuck YMCA. Mrs. Zonas loved to ski, bike, exercise, spend time outdoors, and play Thursday night cards with her friends of over 40 years.

She is survived by her three children Kevin and his wife Christa McFadden of Watertown, Ron and his wife Tammy McFadden of Wolcott, and Kathleen Moher of Watertown; her brother Alan Nortonen of North Billerica, MA; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and Charlene Edmonds Elaine’s caregiver who the family would like to thank. Elaine was predeceased by her son in law William Moher, and grandson Anthony Fusco.

Arrangements- Calling hours for Mrs. Zonas will be held 5 to 7 P.M, Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 496 Chase Ave, 06704. Elaine’s funeral will be held 11 A.M, Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Hillside Cemetery, Townsend, MA at the convenience of the family.
