Obituary of Thomas V. Golden Sr.

WALLINGFORD- Thomas Vincent Golden Sr., 91, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the Skyview Center in Wallingford after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Peggy Dickinson Golden.

A Cheshire native, Tom was born on June 23, 1927 to the late Clear Clement and Jeanette Doyle Golden.

Tom was a graduate of Cheshire Academy and Yale University. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was employed for over 35 years as a Sales Engineer with Bristol Babcock.

Tom was a sports enthusiast. He was the captain of the baseball, basketball and football teams at Cheshire Academy. In the sixties, he was the CT State badminton champion. Tom enjoyed being a Cheshire Little League coach. Tom loved growing up and raising a family in the Cheshire community during a time when everyone knew each other.  Throughout his years in Cheshire, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and spent many spiritual hours at La Salette. Tom enjoyed growing plants and was an avid reader. He was a history buff and he had a keen intellect. Tom had a kind and caring heart and was an exceptional listener.

Family was very important to Tom. In addition to his wife Peggy, he leaves a daughter, Mary Golden Burns and her husband Ralph of Hopkinton, MA and a son, Thomas Vincent Golden, Jr. and his wife Karin of Cheshire. He was the proud Grandfather of Colleen, Kevin, Christopher, Neena and Tasman. He also leaves a brother-in-law, Ted Dickinson and his wife, Penny of Nokomis, FL, and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister, Anne Golden Byrne, her husband James Byrne and their daughter, Jeanne Byrne Bruestle.

Arrangements - A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours.  The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cheshire Academy, Roxbury Program, 10 Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410.
