Obituary of Beatrice Mezzari

Beatrice “Bea” (Appicci) Mezzari, 93, passed away in her home in Cheshire in the embrace of her family on Monday, October 29, 2018.

Born on December 6, 1924 and raised in North Bergen, NJ, Bea was the daughter of the late Domenico and Ida (Rimoldi) Appicci. She graduated from Eastern Secretarial School and worked for 30 years with Bowen and Bowen, CPA in Hackensack, NJ. Bea married the love of her life, Fred Mezzari, in 1949 and they raised their children Robert, Linda and Carol in Emerson, NJ.

In 1999 Bea and Fred moved to Cheshire to live with their daughter Linda and her family. After Fred passed away in 2000, Bea created a new life for herself in Cheshire that included gardening, golf, avid reading and of course cooking, as she hosted loving gatherings for family and friends.  Her guests may remember her best for the wonderful meals served on her festive table, always filled with love, food and friendship. Most especially, she cherished being “Nani” to her grandsons Robert and Paul.  Bea devoted time to working with her brother, Father Richard Appicci, O.S.A. to support Augustinian missions in Chulucanas, Peru.

Bea was predeceased by her beloved son Robert. She is survived by her daughters Linda Steller and her husband Ken; Carol Mezzari and her partner Phil Lombardo; her grandsons Robert and his wife Monica, and Paul.

Friends may greet Bea’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main Street, Cheshire, CT  06410 on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 11:30AM to 1PM.  Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 1PM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 2PM in the Church of the Epiphany, 1750 Huckins Road, Cheshire.  A committal service and burial will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:30AM in Maryrest Cemetery, 770 Darlington Avenue, Mahwah, NJ 07430.  Memorial Contributions may be made to The Father Richard D. Appicci, O.S.A., Endowment Fund for the Missions, 214 Ashwood Road, Villanova, PA 19085.
