Obituary of Betty Jean Gannon

Waterbury- Betty Jean (Simmons) Gannon, age 89, passed away November 19th, 2018, surrounded by loving family.  Betty was predeceased by her husband Jack Gannon.  She was born October 4, 1929 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to Leonard and Lela (Barger) Simmons.  Betty was retired from Waterbury Hospital.

Betty is survived by eleven children: Joseph Gannon and his wife Lynne, Deborah Noel and her husband Lawrence, William Gannon and his wife Gloria, Kelly Kerski and her husband Ken, Sean Gannon and his partner David Nichol,  and Timothy Gannon, all of Waterbury; Michael Gannon and his wife Kathleen, and Karen Parsell and her husband James, of Southbury; Mary Lou Lavoie and her husband Bob of Bristol; Guy Gannon and his wife Nadine, of Bethlehem;  and Patricia Gannon and her spouse Ashley Roberts of Farmington.  Betty’s growing family includes eighteen grandchildren, thirteen spouses and partners, and seven great-grandchildren to date, with four more on the way.  That we know of. 

Betty leaves behind a sister, Caroline Kyle, and a sister-in-law, Louise Simmons, and several nieces and nephews, all of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

The family would like to thank the staff of River Glen and the aides from Where The Heart is for their help in caring for Mom.

Arrangements: A funeral service for Betty will start 9 A.M Monday, November 26, from The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 496 Chase Ave., and proceed to St. Michael’s RC Church, 62 St. Michael’s Dr., Waterbury for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 A.M.  Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 203 Spring Lake Rd., Waterbury, CT.  Calling hours will be Sunday, November 25, from 2 to 5 P.M at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Mattatuck Volunteers, PO Box 257, Plymouth, CT 06782-0257.   This donation benefits a local Scout camp.
