Obituary of Henry E. Ouellette

Henry Edward Ouellette, age 93, of Cheshire entered into rest on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Masonicare in Wallingford.  He was the loving husband of the late Genevieve (Amenta) Ouellette for over 63 years.  Henry was born on June 21, 1925 in Lille, Maine, son of the late Magloire and Anna (Cyr) Ouellette.

Henry was raised on his family farm in Northern Maine, where he worked to support his family before relocating to Waterbury at the age of 21.  Soon after, he met the love of his life, Genevieve, and they were married in 1949 and started their family together, eventually moving to Cheshire.   He worked for Chase Brass & Copper Co. in Watertown as a crane operator for over 29 years, and later for the Public Works Department for the Town of Cheshire until his retirement in 1988.  Henry was a car aficionado and a devoted family man who enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and clamming the shores of Rhode Island.

He is the beloved father of Ayn Gelinas and her longtime partner, Jim Martin of Grand Junction, CO; Mary Schell and her husband, Ward of Barrington, IL; and Margaret Shay and her husband, John of Cheshire.  Henry is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Katy Chapman and her husband, Edward; Caroline Schell; Edward (Teddy) Schell and his wife, Sarah; Lyn Rosadini and her husband, Jason; Genevieve Dziama and her husband, Matthew; and Kelly Shay and her fiancé, Ryan Aspinall; his treasured great-grandsons, John Henry Rosadini and Jackson Edward Dziama; and his brother, Gerard Ouellette of Grand Isle, ME.  He was predeceased by 11 of his siblings.

Friends may greet Henry’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So.
