I want to express my deepest sympathy to Karen & Dorie's entire family. Dorie was a very special friend for nearly 60 years. There are no words to explain how much I will miss her and our long chats when I called or visited her. Dorie was a wonderful role model and her obvious love of teaching and helping children convinced me to embark on my own teaching career which lasted about 40 years. Thanks for all the wonderful memories. You will truly be missed. Love, Kathy

Dearest Karen, I will always treasure Dorie’s friendship and later yours as a gift in my life. She and I immediately connected at St. B’s due to our love or working with children and our love of animals. She must have been a blessing to hundreds of children needing special help during her long career. Now she can enjoy being well again with our Lord. Miss Walden was so unbelievably special. Working with her and having her encouragement and support helped build a solid foundation heading in to HS and I have skills, that were taught by her, that I continue to use to this day. I’m so glad I got to see and spend time with her recently.

It was my pleasure to have worked with Dorie in the Cheshire School System. Dorie always had an ear to listen, and a heart and smile to give anyone who needed it. I know first hand how much her students loved and cared for her, as they told me so. Dorie was the kind of person you wished you could be, just a kind, caring, and loving soul.

Dorie will be missed by the thousands of children she touched the lives of over the years. Working with her was a pleasure; she had so much wisdom to share. I kept up with her after her retirement, visiting her at Elim Park as she rehabbed, and through years on Facebook, where she appreciated being kept "in the loop" of all the happenings in our lives. Truly a blessing to have known her, and I send my condolences to Karen and to her family.

Miss Walden was an inspirational teacher; the reason I then went into the profession. I was blessed to have her twice at Norton School and will always remember her creative lessons, her kindness, greeting us at the door to our classroom each morning, and the fun we all hand with her and Miss Dean at the piano. Such a role- model. Thank you for being you Doris!
