My dad, Ken Hale, gave my sister, Sally Dery, 3 acres of land next to Arisco's. Bob was hired to build their dream house. Sally and Ron with the help of family and some friends were going to do most of the work themselves. After the land was cleared, Bob came over to dig the hole for the foundation. He was also building your house up in the back at the same time. After the foundation was put up, Sally and I started to tar it. The brush got too heavy so we both started just using our hands. Bob came over to see how everything was going. When he saw Sally and I, he just started laughing so hard I thought he was going to wet his pants! He then tried to get us to come over and tar his foundation. I never in my life saw him laugh that hard! Sally and Ron said that every time they saw Bob after that time, all he could talk about was us covered in tar. I hope this brought a smile to your face. It feels so much better to celebrate a loved one's life than to mourn their passing. Your former neighbor, Nancy Hale

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. McKinley. There are so few people left in the neighborhood from the 60's and 70's. I remember playing at your house as a little kid. Seems like yesterday! I remember your husband/father being so quiet and laid back. He really had a calming affect when he was around. My brother-in-law who built their house here on Marion Rd. had such a great relationship with him. I always thought that was strange, they were as different as can be. One of the last times I saw him, we[Tilcon] were paving Marion Rd. and he was watching us with such a big smile on his face. He truely looked like he was really enjoying himself-like a little kid. The neighborhood will not be the same! I am so sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Janet Hale

Dear Irene & family, I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Bob. In case you don't remember me, I am the oldest girl of Ken & Mary Hale's kids. I have so many memories of the neighborhood. I have especially one favorite story of Bob that I will write in the Shared Stories section. My heart and prayers are with you. Nancy Hale, Lehigh Acres, FL
