Obituary of Mary Gallagher

CHESHIRE - Mary C. Gallagher, 95, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was the widow of Charles W. Gallagher to whom she was married for over 60 years. Mrs. Gallagher was born June 17, 1917 in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of the late John and Mary (O'Brien) Denniston. She was employed as a Key Punch Operator for the Federal Government for many years. She was a Connecticut resident for the last nine years having previously lived in New Mexico and Brooklyn, NY. She is survived by her daughter Regina McGowan and her husband John of Cheshire; her three sons John Gallagher and his wife Pauline of Bath, ME, Michael Gallagher and his wife Rebecca of Rio Rancho, NM, and Timothy Gallagher and his wife Cheryl of Somis, CA; her grandchildren Jennifer and Dan Conley, Sean and Ashley McGowan, Joseph and Catherine Gallagher, Nik and Lesley Gallagher, Emily and Shane Sigmon, Alayne and Jason Hamilton, Gabe and Ivette Gallagher, Zack Gallagher, Ben and Shawna Gallagher, Delaney and Michael Rodriguez, Rose Gallagher, and Tim Gallagher; her Great Grandchildren, Zak, Thomas, Nate, Liam, Ezra, Ava, Audrey, and Sophia. Her goddaughter Susan Maliziosa, godson William Denniston, nephew Rev. John Denniston, Nieces Joan Denniston, Maryanne Bradberry, Cathy Caridi, Patricia LaPlace and other great nieces and nephewes. Besides her husband, Mrs. Gallagher is predeceased by her extraordinary son, Charles D. Gallagher. The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Henry and the medical staff at Yale New Haven Medical I.C.U. for their care and compassion as well as Beth LaFemina for her frequent visits and continued support, and the Staff at Mulberry Gardens Adult day Care for their warmth and joy at having her attend. Arrangements - Funeral will be held on Saturday March 16, 2013 9:15 from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. to St. Thomas Becket Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the funeral procession leaves for church. Memorial contributions may be made to an organization of the donor's choice.
