Obituary of Helen Walker
NAUGATUCK-Helen Ruth (Buzas) Walker, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday Mar. 14, 2013 after a brief illness. Beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, she was the widow of the late, Edward A. Walker.
She was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania , of Lithuanian heritage, the daughter of the late, Joseph and Helen Buzas and had been a Naugatuck resident for over 62 years, moving here from Waterbury. She worked for many years at the Chittenden Insurance Agency in Naugatuck, was an avid golfer, enjoyed bingo, and was an active member of the Waterbury Bridge Club up to the last week of her life. She loved playing cards every weekend with her sister, children, and grandchildren. Helen was the beloved matriarch of her family. Family was most important to her and she always strove to promote harmony within it.
She is survived by her three children Barbara A. Krause of Northford, Carol W. Smith of York, Pennsylvania, and son Edward Hazen Walker of Naugatuck; one sister, Ruth Zdanis of Plymouth; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one nephew and one niece. She was predeceased by a sister Ann B. Jones, and brother Anthony Buzas.
Her funeral service will be held on Sunday Mar. 17, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will be private in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 12 noon to the time of the service.
