Obituary of Martin O'Brien

NAUGATUCK- Mr. Martin F. O'Brien, Jr., 95, of Naugatuck, passed away Thursday Mar. 21, 2013 at the Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL. He was the husband of the late Mildred (Mannion) O'Brien who passed away in 1980 after 40 years of marriage. Mr. O'Brien was born in Naugatuck, July 4, 1917, a son of the late Martin F. O'Brien, Sr. and Ellen (O'Brien) O'Brien and was a lifelong Naugatuck resident. He was educated in the local school system and had served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was formerly employed by Waterbury Tool Co. and retired in 1980 from Uniroyal-Chemical Division with over 41 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and Motorcycles and was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He leaves his son Phillip E. O'Brien and one daughter, Sharon E. Muzio both of Punta Gorda, FL; 4 grandchildren, Therese Filachek, Matthew Mierzejewski, Ellen Hokkanen, and Sean Strollo; 7 great-grandchildren, Ashley Strollo, Roger Strollo, Anna Marie, and Catherine Filachek, and Peter, Thomas, and Mary Mierzejewski. He was predeceased by a daughter, Olive M. Mierzejewski; a son, Paul H. O'Brien and his Brother and Sisters; James O'Brien, Ellen Edwards, May Harrison, and Genevieve Haskins. His funeral will be held on Tuesday Mar. 26, 2013 at 8:30 am from the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross St., Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 pm.
