Obituary of Mary Culligan
NAUGATUCK- Mrs. Mary (DeAngelis) Culligan, 92, of Naugatuck, passed away Friday evening April 12, 2013 at Cheshire House in Waterbury, after a long illness.
Mrs. Culligan was born in Bridgeport, Feb. 20, 1921, a daughter of the late Albino and Agata (DeFeo) DeAngelis and was educated in the Bridgeport school system. She had been a Naugatuck resident for the past 12 years, moving here from Bridgeport. She was a retired employee of D.M.Reads and Macy's Department Stores.
She leaves her daughter, Patricia Rupwani and her husband Kanayo of Naugatuck, with whom she made her home. and one son, Francis Culligan and his wife Kathleen of Guilford; two sisters, Edith Dichenko of Holiday, FL., and Eleanor Nalven of Chicago, IL; 4 grandchildren, Mark and Nicholas Rupwani and Fran and Bridget Culligan, 2 great-grandchildren, Jocelyn and Ean Rupwani and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Frank and Charles DeAngelis and a sister, Angeline Colacurcio.
Family and friends are invited to her calling hours on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport, 06604. All other services and burial in St. Michaels' Cemetery, Stratford, will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Fisher House - CT, c/o The Creed Law Firm LLC PO Box 575, Bristol, CT, 06010-0575. The Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. is in charge of arrangements.
