Obituary of William Munger

Cheshire-William "Bill" Munger, Sr., age 92, entered into rest on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Midstate Medical Center in Meriden. He was the beloved husband of Rachel Scott Munger, and has been a Cheshire resident for 66 years. Bill was born on March 19, 1921 in New Haven, son of the late Clarence D. and Gussie Dowd Munger. Bill was proud to be an Industrial Electrician with IBEW Local 90 his entire working life. He grew up on the shore living in Branford and Guilford. Bill enjoyed boating with his family and later in life RVing with Rachel throughout the U.S. making lifelong friends at every stop along the way. He was a handyman who created displays around their home, including their remarkable 'Memory Lane'. Bill's voice may have been gruff, but his heart was pure gold. Special thanks to neighbors, friends and extended 'family' for all your kind thoughts and deeds during Bill's illness. Besides his wife, Bill is survived by his loving daughter, Elizabeth Jones and her husband A.J. of WV; a daughter-in-law, Joan Munger of Wallingford; foster daughter, Linda Clark; and his cherished granddaughter, Rachel Ramsey and her husband Alan. He was predeceased by his son William Munger, Jr. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 24th, 2013 at 11:00AM at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, Cheshire. Friends may greet the family at the funeral home on Sunday, June 23rd, 2013 from 5PM until 8PM, and on Monday from 10AM until the time of service. His burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
