Obituary of Donald DeStefano
CHESHIRE- Donald A. DeStefano passed away Monday June 24, 2013 at Waterbury Hospital. He was born on February 6, 1928 in North Bergen, NJ, the son of Slyvia (LaRose) and Pasquale DeStefano.
He served with the United States Army of Occupation in Japan and then studied architecture at the University of Texas. He was licensed to practice Architecture in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. He worked with several well-known architects including Percival Goodman, Edgar Tafel, and Edward D. Stone. He was most rpoud of having worked as site architect for Frank Lloyd Wright on the Guggenheim Museum. He practiced in Connecticut for twenty years and was the architect for St. Thomas Beckett Church. He ended his career as Director of Planning and Engineering at Western Connecticut State University.
In the 1970's he was Chairman of the Democratic Town Committee and also served on The Cheshire Building Commission.
Donald is survived by his wife of fifty eight years Jacquelyn DeStefano; his son Donald DeStefano; a daughter Daria and her husband Kevin Cedio; and two adored granddaughters Mia and Taryn of Cheshire.
Arrangements- Donald's family will receive friends Thursday, June 27 from 5 to 8 P.M at The Waverly Restaurant, 286 Maple Ave, Cheshire, 06410.
