Obituary of Dorothy Mirabelli

Dorothy E. Mirabelli, age 90, of Cheshire entered into rest on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Maple Woods at Hamden. She was the beloved wife of Leo R. Mirabelli, and has been a Cheshire resident for 35 years. Dorothy was born on February 17, 1923 in Derby, daughter of the late George and Gertrude VanNess Hecox. Dorothy was a member of the Pioneers of CT Telephone Association, she had worked as a Telephone Operator for SNET, later AT&T, before her retirement in the late 1980's. She loved to bake and was an excellent cook who enjoyed ceramics, knitting and spending time with her family. Dorothy and her talents will be missed by all who knew her. She is the loving mother of Ronald G. Maillette and his wife Marie of Port St. Lucie, FL. Dorothy is also survived by her grandson Erik J. Maillette and his wife Jamie of Mooresville, NC; her first great-grandson Alexander Jon Maillette, whose arrival she awaited and was born on the day she passed; 3 step children and her sisters Barbara Stavrinos, Louise Corning and Janice Dziadik. She was predeceased by her brother Emerson Hecox and her sister Evelyn Valentino. Dottie's family would like to express special thanks to her niece, Madeline deWildt and her immediate family for their compassionate care and also to Mary Sue and Phil Mollison for their loving support during Dottie's final days. Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 10AM at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, 15 Church St., Ansonia. Friends may greet the family at the funeral home on Friday, August 9, 2013 from 6PM until 8PM.
