Obituary of Josephine Kowalski

CHESHIRE - Josephine S. Kowalski, 95, passed away Wednesday evening August 14, 2013 at her home. She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Kowalski Sr. Mrs. Kowalski was born December 15, 1917 in New Haven, the daughter of the late Lorenzo and Vinceniza (Giangarra) Spinnato. She was a longtime resident of Cheshire where she was active in the Cheshire community as a Charter and Life Time Member of the Suburban Garden Club; the Historical Society as well as the Cheshire Land Trust; the Jaycee Wives of Cheshire; the Democratic Women's Club; the Ladies Guild of St. Bridget and St. Thomas Becket. She also served on the Parents Council for ten years at Quinnipiac University. She was an Office Manager for Precision Engineering Labs for many years until her retirement in the mid 1990s. Throughout the years she was a dance instructor at the YWCA and the Arthur Murray Dance School in New Haven and was a Girl Scout Leader in New Haven and Cheshire. Mrs. Kowalski is survived by her son Joseph J. Kowalski Jr. and his wife Lorraine of Cheshire and her grandchildren Gregory James and Tia Leanne; her sister Mary Mazzacane of Hamden; brother-in law Bernard A. Kowalski and a sister-in law Genevieve Przygocki, both from Hamden as well as several nieces and nephews. Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 24, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Becket Church 435 N. Brooksvale Road, Cheshire. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery and there are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Becket Church, 435 N.
