I send condolences on behalf of two veterans organizations to which Jim belonged. First, he was a member of the local VFW Post 10052. He didn't attend meetings so I didn't know him well in that capacity. (I am post commander.) But Jim did attend the Army Air Force Roundtable. (I am chaplain.) Several years ago he spoke of his WW2 experience, and I especially remember that he had the very unusual duty of joining a navy ship's crew as the ship was being built in Belfast, Ireland. I will remember Jim in my prayers at AAFR next Tuesday, when we have a meeting.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I have fond memories of Jim Doherty from my affiliation with the Ct Fire Marshal Association. As an Architect I have been an affiliate member and interacted with Jim at the CFMA conferences as well as doing business in Cheshire. Jim was always a gentleman and I remember on one of my visits to his office in Cheshire he gave me a Connecticut Fire Marshal Association Hat, which I wear proudly on many occasions.

I worked with "Sparky" when I was a secretary at Crosby High School. My husband was a volunteer fireman for Middlebury. We had many conversations as to who would win at the parades and take home the big trophy, at the various parades and the big state convention parade. I consider it a privlege to be able to call him my friend. My memories of Jim are that he was funny, considerate and helpful. He always made us smile by telling jokes, etc. when he came into the office to get his mail. He will be missed by many.
