Family of Isabel Porto posted a condolence
Sunday, October 6, 2013
Isabel and Mary shared smiles and conversations at Middlebury Convalescent Home. When we would walk by Mary, she would always say 'hello' and give us a beautiful smile. She was kind to Isabel. We send you heartfelt condolences on her passing.

Mary was an independent woman her whole life. She help her siblings throughout her life, My mother and she lived together for 20 some Years in their apartment on Prospect St. They were a good pair , Rita outgoing and chatty, Mary quietly observing. Her favorite food was a hamburger , plain on rye bread, no condiments! Hot dogs were a close second.
Her brother Ed loved to get her going, he a democrat , she leaned more to the republican views. She loved to read and read the paper every day up until a few weeks ago. She kept in touch with her nieces in Fort Collins and they with her.
The staff at middlebury convalescent home loved her and took wonderful care of her and all of the residents in their hands.
Mary and her cousin Pat Gurrera grew up together as Mary and her siblings were orphaned at a young age. They stayed close throughout life and had many lunches and phone chats together.
She was loved and will be greatly missed. Her chums, as she called them, all died before her but she made new friends at her apt. Building throughout her life there. She had a wonderful infectious laugh and smile.
