When I grew up in Middlebury, I met Sandy and Edie. I lived at bottom of the hill off of Middlebury Rd. Sandy and I became friends. We used to sew and do crafts together ( making what we called Gaunks). Edie would always offer us a bite to eat or would offer us a hand with crafts, etc. SHe was such a spirit. I remember she loved music and told us stories. She took me to sign up for Choir and Sunday School when I was 5. We used to go to the beach sometimes or blueberry picking.. She was a great and a warm person. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting her. Although I had not seen her for years, she was always a fond part of my memories of growing up in that neighborhood. Unfortunately, we cannot make it to the service today. Much sympathy to Sandy and her family at this difficult time. My family sends their thoughts and prayers to you all.
Love, Wendy Lou Ashe

Dear Edie, You have made this world a better place through your love for others. Having known you over the years, I have many fond memories of you. I will always remember our bacci ball competitions, sometimes with members ranging in age from 10 to eighty-something(when Quentin was younger and played with us ,too). There were also many card games. I especially remember when we played Tripoley and you raked in your winnings (a big pile of chips) with both hands and a big grin on your face. And then there was your baking....which was simply outrageous! I will never forget those chocolate fudge cookies with raspberry filling and melted chocolate frosting! They were incredible....like you. Thank you, Edie for all of the encouraging words you have given me over the years, especially in this last year, through my own medical hurdles. I love you and all you have taught me about kindness and humility. I know that God certainly has a very special place for you among His many angels. You will be missed dearly.
