Obituary of Maureen Hall
CHESHIRE - Maureen C. Hall, 80, passed away peacefully Friday, December 16 at Yale New Haven Hospital following complications from a stroke suffered on December 2. She was the wife of Kenneth H. "Bud" Hall.
Maureen Catherine (Ryan) Hall was born January 28, 1931 in Westfield, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Samuel P. and Josephine (Curran) Ryan. She was a graduate of Westfield (MA) High School and continued her education at Bay Path College. A longtime Cheshire resident, Maureen was active with a number of civic activities and organizations, including the Cheshire Junior Women's and Women's Clubs, and as a member the Red Hat Society. An avid gardener, she particularly enjoyed her longtime affiliation with the Cheshire Garden Club. Maureen was also an enthusiastic bridge player, which she enjoyed playing with numerous friends. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant for many years at Cheshire Nursery, Quinnipiac College and Channel 20, and enjoyed a long and healthy retirement with her husband Ken and many dear friends.
Besides her husband of 54 years, Maureen is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Hall) Gersowitz and her husband Robert of Slingerlands, New York; her son Matt Hall and his wife Lisa of Cheshire; her sisters Adele Gorham of North Branford and Joanne Melanson of Westfield, Mass., as well as her five grandchildren Sam, Mari, Katie, Adam and Emily.
The family also would like to thank the physicians, nurses, and caregivers in the Neurological Intensive Care Unit at Yale New Haven who fought side-by-side and valiantly with Maureen over the past month, and who provided such great comfort and care to her and our family in her final days.
Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 11:15 from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. to St. Bridget Church for Mass at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
