Obituary of Lydia Magnani

CHESHIRE- Mrs. Lydia Ann Magnani, 84, of Cheshire, passed away Tuesday Nov. 19, 2013 at the Mid-State Hospital in Meriden. She was the widow of the late Charles M. Magnani, who passed ay in 1997 after 47 years of marriage. Mrs. Magnani was born in North Attleborough, Mass., July 10, 1929, a daughter of the late Patrick and Rose (Pasquale) LaFratta and was educated in the Attleborough school system. She moved to Cheshire in 1955 from Mass., and had been employed by American Cyanamid Corp. for 18 years, prior to her retirement in 1980. Lydia was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed playing the piano by ear, playing a various nursing homes, entertaining the residents. She especially loved all types of animals. She leaves two sons, Steve Magnani of Cheshire, and Mark Magnani of Meriden; two brothers, James LaFratta of N. Falmouth, Mass., and Michael LaFratta of Attleborough, Mass.; and 4 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Bourne National Cemetery, Bourne, Mass., at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main St. is assisting the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make memorial contributions to the Conn. Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111.
