Obituary of Dow Kling

CHESHIRE- Dow W. Kling, age 90, born June 10, 1923, died at his home surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren on November 20th 2013. The Patriarch of the Kling family Dow was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He was the son of the late Walter and Pearl Kling of Belmar N.J. where he and his sister Laura were raised. Dow served as a staff sergeant of the 125 service command unit of the United States Army until his honorable discharge on March 28th 1946. He also received a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Rider College in N.J. He later worked for over 30 years for Yale University as a manager and an accountant. Dow W. Kling was a devoted husband to his wife of 67 years Mary Dwyer Kling. Together they raised their 10 children in Cheshire were they lived for the past 59 years. Besides his wife he also leaves behind his sister Laura Lechner (Harold); his cousins Ruth and Shirley Wooley, his children Patricia Kling, Michael Kling (Roberta Curtis), Barbara Kling, Mark Kling, Mary Johnson, Julie Kling (Kris), Catherine Cyr (James), Joseph Kling (Karil) and John Kling; grandchildren Andre, Danielle (Josh), Sarah Mary, Joseph, Elizabeth, Christine, Liza, Claudia, Olivia, Mary, Conner and Skyler; his great grandchildren Alyssa, Cody and Kayden. He was predeceased by his son Dow Kling III and recently departed grandson Dow A.R. Kling IV. Arrangements- A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Thomas Becket on Nov 26th starting 11:00 A.M 435 North Brooksvale Road Cheshire, Ct. 06405. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Calling hours will be held on Monday Nov 25th from 5 to 7 P.M at Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire 615 South Main Street, Cheshire Ct. 06405. Burial will full military honors will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Road, Cheshire.
