The notice of Tanya's death was just shared on our West Lafayette High School page. We just had our reunion and Tanya was missed and then her obituary was found. I knew Tanya since elementary school and Girl Scouts. She was such a sweet, kind soul and very intelligent. Prayers and hugs to her family.

I remember and cherish all the Sunday afternoons we spent as War gamer widows. Listening to Dr Deminto or Lake Wobegon days. Cooking and doing crafts and watching our children play. They were long ago but they are still like yesterday in my heart.

My favorite Tanya story concerns the first time I took her up to see my parents. We'd had a most satisfactory visit, and came back to Lafayette about 11pm. I had not been with Tanya long, and I didn't realized the shortness of her bedtime fuze.
We came into town, and we were both hungry, so we decided to stop at Payless to get dinner. Entering the store, we split to buy this and that. I got most of my items, and saw Tanya in the frozen food isle, looking into a cooler. I went and got the remainder of my items and returned to the end of the isle to find her still looking into the cooler. I went to the book isle and looked at a book and a magazine and came back to find her still looking. I came towards her and asked her "What're you looking at?". No answer.
I got close enough, and noticed that her eyes we closed and she was snoring softly, having fallen asleep standing up and holding onto the cooler handle. I had to gently detach her hand, and walk her out of the store...
