Obituary of Gregory Miller

Gregory Xavier Miller, 85, of Cheshire CT, died in his beloved home after a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body Disease which is a neurodegenerative disorder in the brain. Born October 22, 1926 in New Haven, CT where he grew up and worked for 49 years at the New Haven Register. Son of the late Joseph J. and Sadie Heffernan Miller. Mr. Miller served in the United States Navy during WW II as a gunner captain on Liberty Ships. He settled in Cheshire CT, in 1953 to raise his family with his wife Gloria. Mr. Miller was a dedicated family man who spent his spare time landscaping his yard, swimming, coaching/ umpiring Cheshire Little League and coaching a women's softball team. His passions were his family, his home in Cheshire and the UCONN women's basketball team. Surviving are his wife Gloria P. Miller of Cheshire, CT; son Mark G. Miller, of St. Laurant, Quebec and his wife Natalie Peters Miller; son Philip A. Miller of Cheshire, CT; and 5 grandchildren, Jeffrey and Christopher of St. Laurant, Quebec; Andrew of New York City, Grace, of Boston MA and Edward of Osterville, MA. Besides his immediate family are his dear sister-in-law Arlene Dobbin of Clinton, CT and his many nieces and nephews who he was very fond of. Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Friday December 30, 2011, 9:15 from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. to St. Thomas Becket Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
