I remember being a young girl and listening to my mom talk about the nice stock boy at work who was so in love with this girl with beautiful red hair. As they got older, they would sometimes attend Sunday mass together at my church and I recall watching them with awe. Through my young eyes, they had a fairy tale relationship. As I grew up and continued to know of them through my mom and just from being in town, my childhood image of Tim and Kris matured into admiration for the pure and genuine love and respect they appeared to have for each other through all the years. Sometimes without meaning to or knowing it,just by being "real", people serve as role models. My deepest condolences to the Slocum and extended family and friends.

Having worked at Home Fabric Mills for over 20 years, I had the pleasure of witnessing the loving relationship of Kris and Tim. It was beautiful to see how a young couple worked together to raise four wonderful kids. Every Friday around lunchtime, Kris would come to the store with Gretchen walking beside her and Emily in her arms to meet Tim. Their devotion to each other and their kids reflects the love they share forever. Kris will be remembered for her sincere smile and warmest greetings at CVS. She will be truly missed. My heart goes out to the whole family and my prayers to God to walk with you through this difficult time.

It doesn't seem that long ago that Tim would habitually abandon me every weekend at university. Off he'd go hitch-hiking up to Massachusetts to some small all-girls college to spend time with his high school sweetheart, Kristen Manke (taking our favorite Marvin Gaye album along with him no doubt). Later I had the privilege of being a part of Tim & Kristen's wedding. We arrived at university as high school acquaintances and left friends for life with the added super-bonus for me of getting to know Kristen much better. She will be missed.

I have shared work and life with Tim for more years than we would like to acknowledge and all of them good. Once upon a time, a stockboy named Tim introduced me to this stunningly beautiful redhead and said they were getting married....they did. Tim went on to be in charge of the complete operation with Kris at his side, they have four beautiful children and 2 grandchildren and Tim is now "stockboy and chef in charge of everything" at his own business. With Kris at his side, he was one lucky person. We all who knew Kris will miss her and know that we had someone special in our lives.
