Obituary of Joseph Maynard

WATERBURY- Mr. Joseph Rene' Maynard, Sr., 49, of Waterbury, passed away Tuesday Feb. 18, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of Sheena Maynard. Mr. Maynard was born in Waterbury, Aug. 23, 1964, a son of Ann (Tamulonis) (Maynard) Hanley and the late Kenneth Maynard, Sr. He was employed as a Driver/Companion with "Home There For You" and had previously been employed by Human Resources Development of Naugatuck, and the State of Conn, Dept. of Mental Health. He attended Bethel Baptist Church of Prospect. Besides his wife, Sheena of 15 years, and his mother Ann and step-father, Donald Hanley of Bangor, ME, he leaves two sons, Joseph R. Maynard, Jr. of Waterbury, and Daniel Maynard, Stationed with the U.S. Navy; one daughter Amy Maynard of Waterbury and one step-daughter, Cheryle Elliott of Waterbury; three brothers, Kenneth Maynard Jr. of Naugatuck, William Vancleave of Morgan Hill, CA and Rick Maynard of Kissimmee, FL ; two sisters, Darlene Sforza and Carol Guimond both of Hermon, ME; his former wife, Effie Shaw and her mother, Georgina Girolimon and his 3 grandchildren, Lilliana Maynard, Desiree Elliott, and Dakota Fortier and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his father he was predeceased by a brother Andy Maynard. His funeral service will be held on Thursday Feb. 27, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Friends are invited to attend a reception following the service at the Bethel Baptist Church, 150 Union City Rd., (RT 68), Prospect.
