Obituary of Briday Carser

WATERBURY- Briday Elizabeth (Clisham) Carser, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, February 27, 2014, in the VITAS unit of St. Mary's Hospital. She was the loving wife of Edmund Carser whom she was married to for 51 years. Mrs. Carser was born June 1, 1929 in Pittston, PA daughter of the late Paul A. and Katherine I. (Carey) Clisham. She was a graduate of St. John's High School in Pittston, PA where she was captain of the cheerleading team and co-editor of her year book. She was employed by Uniroyal, Waterman Bic, Lewis Engineering and Worth's. She was a devout Catholic and took comfort in the rosary, prayers, and her faith. Briday enjoyed ballroom dancing and traveling to Europe with her husband Edmund. She prided herself on her annual St. Patrick's Day parties and welcoming all with love and open arms. She was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and was proud to be Irish. Briday made everyone who was lucky enough to meet her feel special and loved. She touched the hearts of so many with her kindness and extremely generous heart. She was full of love and kindness, which she shared with all she met. Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters Sherry and her husband Russell Mitchell of Waterbury, and Bridget and her husband Lou Arias of Waterbury; three brothers William E. and his wife Dorie Clisham of Hawaii, Dennis "Ned" and Johanna Clisham of Southington, and Ronald J. and his wife Margie of Vernon; two sisters Mary K. and her husband Emil Martino of Naugatuck, and Mercedes "Cedy" Fredsall of Wolcott; her grandchildren Christopher and his wife Susan Mascola, Lisa Mascola, Rachel Mascola, Vanessa Mascola, Louie Mascola II, Matthew and Megan Arias; seven great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren; a step daughter Diane Carser of Arlington, MA and countless nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons Paul and Louie Mascola Jr.; six brothers Stephen A., Patrick "Buddy", Bruce R., Paul "Carey", Thomas A., and John "Deacon" Clisham; and three sisters Anita M. Morgan, Jacqueline "Jackie" F. Gardner, and Joan A. Guiliano. Briday's family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks and the entire staff at Apple Rehab in Watertown and her special friend Edna O'Leary for the tender loving care and kindness they bestowed upon her. Also, to the Nurses and staff on Sacred Heart 5, and in the VITAS unit at St.Mary's Hospital, for the care and compassion they showed her during her final days. Arrangements- Briday's funeral will be held 10 A.M Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from the Mulville Funeral Home, 270 West Main Street, and proceed to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday March 4, 2014 from 4 to 7 P.M at the funeral home.
