I am so sorry, but I just saw this. She was my Mother's (Barbara Isaacs) good friend. Joan bought my Mom's car after her passing. They played bridge together and my mother always had such nice things to say about and enjoyed her company so much. Again, I apologize that I did not know this sooner and give you all my deepest sympathy.

Dear Kirk, Dee, Shelly, Debbie and Chip: I send my sincere sympathy to you all and your families for the loss of your mother. I have known her since I was a young girl. Our parents were friends way back when Cheshire was still a small town. I called your Mom a couple of years ago, just to say hello. She was one of the few people of my past that was still with us. She was so supportive of me when my mother died back in the early 1970's. I used to baby sit for you kids, in the house on Lanyon Drive, I always loved that house, it was so different than so many of the center hall colonials! Not sure if you remember the year my parents (Wes and Emma) and your parents rented a house on a cliff above the ocean in Chilmark, Martha's Vineyard. I brought along a girlfriend (Beverly who passed last year) and we spent two weeks laying on the beach working on a tan. What a fun time we had. Of course I was in those awful teenage years so I can only imagine what a pain I was. I will always have very fond memories of your Mom and Dad, I can still hear her voice. She was such a patient woman and she loved you kids more than life itself. You were blessed to have her for your Mom and I know your loss will be great. God Bless you all.

Dee and family: I am very sorry for the loss of your wonderful mother. I saw her last at the Cheshire Library at a piano concert that I attended with my father after my mom passed away in 2007. She was so kind to my dad and was so sincere in her concern over his loss that I know it helped ease his pain, at least for a brief moment. We also saw Mr. Orsene there and your mom looked so good and so youthful that he mistook her for Dee...really. I imagine she was a wonderful mother and grandmother and that you will all miss her terribly. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Paula (Marut)

What do we say about our friend,Joan, she was such a special person and we will miss her terrible. She was always the one who would support our actions, transport us everywhere and laugh with us about our rather goofy behaviors. She was the best other mother anyone could have asked for. I will keep that little bit of my heart special with memories of her always. Love and peace to her and the family my good friend. Love you all. Sue

Dear Dice children , Your mother was indeed a special woman and one I was privileged to have in my life and call a friend. I still praise her every time I make an apple crisp with a recipe she taught me about 40 years ago when I was beginning my career and she was raising her wonderful family. We still laugh about the first time she babysat for Rebekah ( 33 years old ) and your mom had know no idea how to put on a pamper. She wondered what I did with all the time I was not folding cloth diapers. I also have a stuffed elephant she made for my son David ( 30 years old ) when he was born. Hap and I will be out of town on Saturday so we will miss the celebration of her life. A life full of family, friends and special occasions that were celebrated. Please know that my thoughts will be with you all. I will remember her mother fondly. Love , Fellis

Although we never had the chance to meet her, we know she was a very special lady through the warm and beautiful kindness you have shared with our community.
