Longtime Waterbury Resident
WATERBURY Mr. Joseph Boxer, 83, of Waterbury, passed away surrounded by his family at Abbott Terrace Rehab Facility, on Sunday, December 21, 2008.
Son of the late Connie Popick, Joe was born near Shenandoah, PA. He graduated from the Marianapolis School in Thompson, CT. He was a proud World War II Navy veteran, stationed aboard the destroyer USS Wadsworth, and served in the Pacific Theater where he fought in the Battle of Midway. Joe worked as an Electrical Foreman at Chase Brass & Copper Co. for more than 30 years.
Joe was a faithful communicant of Saints Peter & Paul Church. He was an avid bingo player, and loved jaunts to Atlantic City and Foxwoods with his wife. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his sons Kevin and his wife Kathy of Oakville, and Christopher of Arizona; his two granddaughters, Jessica Boxer of Bristol and Nicole Autore of Oakville. His wife of 51 one years, Eileen, preceded him in death.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 8:15 a.m. from the Mulville Funeral Home, 270 West Main Street., Waterbury, to Sts. Peter & Paul Church for Mass at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown.
