I worked with George for many years when he was a substitute teacher at Cheshire High School. He was greatly loved by teachers, students and staff. We have missed him since he moved but have always spoken about him and remembered him very fondly. May you be comforted to know how cherished a person he was to all at Cheshire High School. Dear Debbie, Susan, Wendy & Family: Uncle George will be remembered fondly by all of us. How could one not smile when thinking of him. We know how proud he was of his girls and grandchildren. We regret being unable to attend his services but will be represented by Barbara, Jim and Kris. Our prayers are with you. Bob & Mary

It was with great sadness that I learned of your father's passing. My mom was down here in PA for Christmas and brought a copy of the Cheshire Herald. Mr. Thomas was an icon to CHS students. I will never forget how he wore his green Dartmouth sport jacket with pride. And, of course, who could forgot all those tootsie rolls he handed out when he subbed. I went on to become a member of the class of 1994 at Dartmouth and we shared a reunion in 1999. He was so proud of the students he touched at CHS and I was always so proud of telling my fellow Green alumni that I knew George Thomas. to this day, I always check the 1934 classnotes section of our alumni magazine to look for news of Mr. Thomas. It wasn't that long ago that I remember a tribute to him in the magazine, noting that he was still teaching at CHS. What wonderful memories I have of your father. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He touched the lives of so so many ....

George lived a long and interesting life. I was glad to be part of that as a colleague at CHS and the help he gave us at Track/Field Meets after school. He was a very kind man who loved the kids. It had to be that because why else would he have stayed on the job so long at CHS. He will be missed and remembered fondly.

To George's Family It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of your Dad, my friend, George. George was an inspiration to me in all of my years as as a teacher but more importantly as a friend. I cherished the many years I had with George and always looked forward to seeing him in school. He was always upbeat and positive and his personality led me to believe he enjoyed life to its fullest. I hope that in my life I can conduct myself in the exemplary manner that George did with his life. He was a true friend and I will miss him dearly. I am a better person for having George as my longtime friend. Ralph Zingarella

I will never forget George. He subbed for me for many years and I know my students enjoyed him as much as he enjoyed them. I have a lav pass he left in my room. It will remain here as long as I am here as a remembrance of times past. Rest in Peace, George. Diann Milone
