Obituary of Gladys Bloomenthal
Gladys Bloomenthal, 91, widow of the late David Bloomenthal, died at Abbott Terrace Health Center in Waterbury on Thursday, May 17th of natural causes., Born in Brooklyn, NY, the youngest of six children of Hungarian Jewish immigrants, Henry and Mary Heller, Gladys was grew up in New York City when she met and married David in 1940. Soon afterward, the couple relocated to Waterbury. The Bloomenthals raised two children, and Gladys worked in retail sales until David died in 1990, and then as an American Cancer Society volunteer. Gladys is survived by a daughter, Elaine Salinger and her husband Stephen of Harnden, a son, Marty Bloomenthal and his wife Anne of Lawrenceville, NJ, and four grandchildren, Amy and Aaron Salinger and Emily and Lauren Bloomenthal. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 20th at 1 :00 p.m. at Beth EI Cemetery, Boyden St. in Waterbury. Due to the celebration of the holiday of Shavuoth, Shiva services will be held on Sunday at 6:45 p.m. at 913 Cooke Street in Waterbury May , 20th and at the Salinger home, 79 Schupp Rd, Hamden at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, May 21th The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 70 Central Ave. is in charge of arrangements Memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 2911 Dixwell Ave, Hamden, 06518 or to Temple Beth Sholom1809 Whitney Ave, Handen, 06518, or to a charity of the Donors choice.
