Obituary of Marion Coe
Marion Betty (Heller) Coe, 79, of Bristol, formerly of Milford, Pa. and Wolcott, died Saturday May 26, 2007 at the Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of the late Albert R. Coe. Mrs. Coe was born Dec. 33, 1927, in Bloomsburg, Pa. the only daughter of the late George Alberta and Marion (McCorkle) Heller. She received an Associates Degree from Northwestern Community College in Library Science and was employed by the Board of Education of Wolcott. She worked as an Assistant Librarian and Study hall proctor at Wolcott High School. An active PTA volunteer, she organized the first library at Frisbie School. She was a former Secretary, youth group advisor and choir member of Mill Plain Union Church. While involved in the Wolcott Congregational Church, Marion Betty co-founded the Annual Gifts and Greens Fair, one of the areas first holiday bazaars over 41 years ago. She was a 50+ year member of the Wolcott Grange and a member of the Wolcott Historical Society. As a former Girl Scout leader and trainer, she developed and worked at Camp Coe-Noyer, a Girl Scout Camp on Coe Rd. in Wolcott. A life-long volunteer, Betty dedicated countless hours to the Visiting Nurses and American Cancer Society. Hospice programs in the greater Waterbury area and Pocono Region, Pa.She leaves four daughters, Eileen Lee Jensen and her husband William of Waterbury, Janet Graham of Huntington, N.Y., Dorothy Dottie Melillo and her husband Donald of Wolcott, and Carol Coe-Horrigan and her husband Daniel of Largo, Fla.; her grandchildren, William and Dane Jensen, Kevin Graham, Richard, Steven, Matthew and Rebecca Melillo; great-grandchildren, Emma, Noah, and Sophie Jensen, and Kaitlin and Joshua Melillo.Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 2nd at 9:30 a.m. at the Wolcott Congregational Church. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery, Wolcott. Friends may call at the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 70 Central Ave. on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Wolcott Congregational Church, 191 Center St.,, Wolcott, 06716.
