Obituary of John Parlock

Mr. John R. Bob Parlock, 84, of Cheshire, CT, and formerly of North Andover, MA, passed away Sunday June 3, 2007 at the Elim Park Baptist Home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Rose (Lubera) Parlock for the past 53 years.Mr. Parlock was born June 16, 1922 in Bayonne, NJ, a son of the late Stephen and Josephine (Ubl) Parlock. His mother died while he was still an infant, but he was raised lovingly by his father and stepmother, Elizabeth. He served in WW II as a member of the 98th US Naval Construction Battalion (the Seabees), in the Pacific Theater of Operations and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Victory Ribbon. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering and Business Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University in1955. He worked for AT&T Western Electric (later Lucent Technologies) for 48 years in their offices in Newark, Atlanta and North Andover. He also gave back to his community through Telecom Pioneers, a volunteer organization comprised of current and retired telecommunications employees. Mr. Parlock was a Communicant of St. Thomas Becket Church.Besides his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Karen Minkler and her husband Steven of Waterbury, CT; Mary Dash and her husband Robert of Bellingham, MA; a brother Charles Parlock and his wife Jean of Randolph, NJ; three grandchildren, Rosemary Minkler, Christina Dash and Nicholas Dash and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by his brother George Parlock of Hazlet, NJ.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Becket Church 435 North Brooksvale Road Cheshire; CT. Burial with military honors will be in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
